This week, Forrester published The Forrester Wave™: Web Content Management Systems, Q4 2018, and I am extremely pleased to announce that Sitecore has placed as one of three Leaders in this report. The Web CMS market is rapidly evolving, and we believe this report is indicative of a new paradigm where the features and capabilities that have defined the category for many years are now no longer as relevant as digital marketers face the omnichannel world of today and tomorrow.
In the report, Forrester notes that “improved content analytics, APIs, and cross-channel delivery dictate which providers lead the pack. Vendors that can provide flexible content architecture, smarter content management, and flexible cross-channel delivery position themselves to successfully support their organization’s experience-led transformation.”
Reading the report, we felt that Sitecore’s ongoing focus on continuous innovation helped ensure that we are very well placed in all of the aforementioned categories.
For example, Sitecore has long offered integrated web analytics capabilities via the Experience Analytics feature that provide the business user with insight to engagement value offered across their site according to their business goals. With the advent of version 9.0 and xConnect, this can be broadened to encapsulate a 360-degree view of the customer by integrating interactions from other channels. The same capabilities can also be used to easily integrate with a corporate business intelligence solution of choice.
With our recently announced 9.1 product wave, these already strong capabilities are further enhanced via Sitecore Cortex to leverage machine learning to enhance personalization and segment discovery, as well as the Universal Tracker which easily enables mobile/IoT experiences - or even those yet to be invented!
Since its inception and unlike many of its peers, Sitecore has always believed in the separation of content from presentation. This separation has long-enabled customers to model their information architecture in accordance with enterprise needs. It also makes it easy to create and reuse content across multiple channels no matter how it’s presented.
In addition, ease of integration has always been a design focal point for Sitecore, which is why we have ensured that we have multiple fit-for-purpose APIs to accommodate a variety of scenarios. From our RESTful APIs for consuming content, to xConnect for analytics data interchange, to the Data Exchange Framework for synchronizing content with external systems, integration is always a first-class citizen within Sitecore.
Lastly, as public cloud infrastructure has matured, customers have been gravitating towards it to eliminate the cost and complexity of managing their own data center infrastructure. Sitecore provides customers with unparalleled choice of deployment options by offering a fully managed solution via Sitecore Managed Cloud; the ability for a customer to deploy upon their own Azure instance via Azure Marketplace or Toolkit; and the ability to still deploy on-premise if desired. All of Sitecore’s cloud offerings are fully serverless, eliminating the maintenance and scale complexities of even running virtual machines in the cloud.
