Carbon footprint

Sitecore tracks carbon emissions for its offices, data center use, and business travel.

Sitecore pledged to neutralize our business travel and data center usage carbon footprint through various charitable organizations that offset our carbon emissions to achieve 100% carbon neutrality. To date, we have supported several organizations positioned to implement carbon offset projects such as Cool Effect, Plant a Billion, and Reforestaction. Sitecore also purchases RECs annually to equal the electricity use of the offices.

Partnership: ReforestAction

Sitecore partnered with ReforestActionto sponsor the planting of 100,000 + trees in 2022

Partnership: Cool Effect

Sitecore has offset over 100% of all carbon impact from travel by sponsoring several verified offset projects through Cool Effect including projects in Indonesia, Kenya, Uganda, and the United States. In addition to climate change mitigation, many of these projects support local communities, biodiversity, sustainable agriculture/forestry, and public health.

Social responsibility

We know if we are not being intentionally inclusive, then we are being unintentionally exclusive. We believe that everything we do and every decision we make must be done with thoughtful intention. The trust we’ve built within and across our teams enables us to challenge both ourselves and one another to always strive for better when it comes to inclusivity and belonging.

We’ve taken steps with intention to further our beliefs by delivering instructor-led unconscious bias and inclusive hiring training, including diversity in ongoing townhalls and panel discussions, and supporting multiple diversity groups including Women@, Pride@ and Latinos@Sitecore. We’ve published a global diversity awareness calendar; we have forums to celebrate and recognize diverse voices; and we highlight employees giving back around the world. We also have mentoring programs for women, pairing them to executives.

Partnership: PLAN International

Sitecore has invested into Plan International’s flagship ‘We are the Girls Campaign’, who partner with girls, children and their communities around the world to overcome oppression and gender inequality, providing the support and resources that are unique to their needs, ensuring they achieve their full potential with dignity, opportunity and safety.

Partnership: UN Women

Sitecore has sponsored UN Women who focuses on priority areas that are fundamental to women’s equality, and that can unlock progress across the board.

Energy reduction

Where feasible, we have begun tracking energy consumption data for all sites.. The majority of our office spaces have LED lighting and efficient appliances while some spaces are powered by renewable energy sources.

Employee engagement is also a crucial part of energy usage reduction. Employees are encouraged to switch everything off when leaving (including low-energy equipment like monitors in standby mode, cell phone chargers, and surge protectors).

Partnership: Plant A Billion

Sitecore planted 10,000 trees through The Nature Conservancy’s Plant a Billion project. Trees filter clean air, provide fresh drinking water, help curb climate change, and create homes for thousands of species of plants and animals.

Waste reduction

Many of Sitecore’s facilities have waste diversion infrastructure with the majority of them implementing recycling practices and working with third party vendors to recycle old furniture and supplies. Many offices utilize reusable cutlery and dishes as well as purchase goods with recycled content. Several spaces also provide filtered water to cut down on plastic waste and provide safe drinking water to employees.

Partnership: Stok

Sitecore has partnered with Stok, a sustainability and ESG consulting firm to provide expertise in ESG program development, implementation, and management.

Water

As feasible, Sitecore has equipped our offices with low-flow fixtures and installed water and energy efficient dishwashers to further reduce usage.
