Developing new ways to engage with customers
With customers everywhere now expecting brands to meet them wherever they want to do business, VELUX wants to be proactive in developing new ways to interact with its customers, provide personalized, visual, feature-rich experiences, and ensure the customer journey is consistent and seamless. Recognizing that a consolidated platform would improve the user experience for its 15 million annual visitors, simplify website management, and empower marketing and communication teams to be able to launch new content and updates faster, VELUX decided to bring together its previously disparate content and digital asset management systems.
Composable foundations for 190 consumer, dealer, and intranet sites
VELUX partnered with Avanade/Accenture to upgrade to a Sitecore-powered, headless, composable solution, including Sitecore Content Hub DAM with out-of-the-box integration to Sitecore Experience Manager (XM) using the Sitecore Connector. The unified digital platform supports 190-plus websites across 38 countries and 27 production units, including intranet and dealer sites.
The new solution seamlessly integrates with the company’s PIM system to ensure the integrity of product information, as well as other applications including its video streaming platform, Salesforce Experience Cloud for partner connections, SAP for enterprise resource planning and customer relationship management, and payment systems for PayPal and credit card providers.
“We migrated more than 140,000 digital assets into Sitecore Content Hub DAM, including the rich media content essential for marketing today,” said Simge Kaya, IT System Owner for DAM and PIM at VELUX. “With Sitecore as the single catalog for omnichannel delivery, these assets are readily available to the content marketers for faster, easier management and distribution across multiple channels.”
In addition to updating its customer-facing sites, VELUX has created a B2B platform on Sitecore so dealers and installers can easily view and access its products, and a customized intranet site that automatically manages prices for each geographical market.
Better customer experiences and faster time-to-market
By moving to a composable approach powered by Sitecore, VELUX has transformed customer engagement. New website features include the ability to showcase products with compatible models, accessories, and specifications, centralized pricing updates, map integration, and greater location accuracy. Leveraging Sitecore Forms, VELUX manages around 70,000 online after-sales requests via its site annually.
With Sitecore enabling a single source of truth for digital assets, product catalogs, and 40 reusable website templates, VELUX has also made it easier for marketers and sales associates to customize websites and generate local campaigns and news, with updates requiring 50% less effort. Automated web editing processes and enhanced site performance, including automated renditions and intelligent media components, have also helped VELUX improve efficiency by around 30%. The company has also improved the ways-of-working which lead to improvement in platform performance.
“We now have a coherent, cost-efficient content management platform that enables us to respond rapidly to changing market conditions and launch new capabilities faster,” said Ewa Ivarsson Heunicke, Senior Manager of Web Digital Delivery at VELUX.
Embarking on this composable architecture journey with Sitecore has brought VELUX value from the very first step. The seamless integration between our headless DAM and CMS combined with re-usable templates provide our marketers with the visibility, access, and ease-of-use to drive feature-rich content and engagement across the multi-channel customer journey.
