Environmental, Social, and Governance

Sitecore is committed to operating our business in an environmentally and socially responsible manner. As a global firm, we have a responsibility to be good citizens of the world by reducing our footprint and creating positive changes in the markets in which we operate.

We’re expanding our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives into a comprehensive Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) program.

This program will feature measurable goals, policies, and a detailed action plan, focusing on key areas like resource accounting, stakeholder engagement, health and well-being, carbon management, DEI, procurement, privacy and security, and green building certifications.

Waste reduction

Many of Sitecore’s facilities have waste diversion systems, with most implementing recycling practices and partnering with third-party vendors to recycle old furniture and supplies. Our offices use reusable cutlery and dishes, and purchase goods with recycled content.

Water

As much as possible, Sitecore has equipped our offices with low-flow fixtures and installed water and energy efficient dishwashers to further reduce usage. Several locations provide filtered water to reduce plastic waste and ensure safe drinking water for employees.

Carbon footprint

Sitecore tracks carbon emissions from its offices, data centers, and business travel. We’ve pledged to neutralize our carbon footprint from business travel and data centers by supporting various organizations that offset emissions. So far, we’ve backed projects by Cool Effect, Plant a Billion, and Reforestaction. We also purchase RECs annually to match our office electricity use.

Social responsibility

We believe that if we’re not intentionally inclusive, we’re unintentionally exclusive. We’ve taken intentional steps to further our beliefs by offering unconscious bias and inclusive hiring training, incorporating diversity in townhalls and panel discussions, and supporting groups like Women@, Pride@, and Latinos@Sitecore. We’ve published a global diversity awareness calendar, created forums to celebrate diverse voices, and highlighted employees giving back worldwide. We also have mentoring programs for women, pairing them with executives who encourage and inspire career growth.

Energy reduction

We’re tracking energy consumption data where possible. Most of our offices use LED lighting and efficient appliances, with some powered by renewable energy sources. Employee engagement is key to reducing energy usage. We encourage everyone to switch off all equipment, including low-energy devices like monitors in standby mode, cell phone chargers, and surge protectors, when leaving.

Our ESG partnerships

Plan a Billion

Sitecore planted 10,000 trees through The Nature Conservancy’s Plant a Billion project. Trees filter clean air, provide fresh drinking water, help curb climate change, and create homes for thousands of species of plants and animals.

Cool Effect

Sitecore has offset over 100% of its travel-related carbon impact by sponsoring verified offset projects through Cool Effect in Indonesia, Kenya, Uganda, and the United States. These projects not only mitigate climate change but also support local communities, biodiversity, sustainable agriculture/forestry, and public health.

UN Women

Sitecore has sponsored UN Women, who focus on priority areas that are fundamental to women’s equality, and that can unlock progress across the board.
