Health and social care providers generally agree that the elderly thrive and are best cared for in their own communities, living with or near family and friends. In Singapore, around 16% of the population is 65 and over. The Agency for Integrated Care (AIC) is responsible for ensuring these residents and their families can access the resources they need. Helping the AIC achieve that goal is a Sitecore-powered e-commerce platform based on Sitecore’s composable OrderCloud solution. The platform makes it simple and easy to find and fund the AIC products and services that residents need to age in place.

Care in the community
The AIC, part of the Singapore Ministry of Health, provides caregivers and seniors with resources and information for staying active, aging well, and connecting to later-life services. Singapore’s elderly community has access to government grants via the Senior Mobility and Enablement Fund (SME), but these can be complex to sort out. The AIC’s ecosystem of product and service partners enables it to deliver quality care closer to the aging population. Improving the e-commerce journey would enable the AIC to extend its services to more people—and in turn, generate increased revenue.
Portal to better care
The AIC selected Vertis Digital, a regional Sitecore business partner, to create a multi-tenant, healthcare-focused e-commerce platform. With the Vertis Health Marketplace, the AIC used Sitecore’s composable OrderCloud solution to develop a marketplace for seniors to use their grants to purchase home care products. The closed marketplace has distinct paths for eligible seniors and their caregivers to access pre-approved suppliers. Sitecore’s headless e-commerce architecture is the first step in the AIC’s composable commerce strategy that will see the organization seamlessly combine best-of-breed components, making it easy to develop more applications to serve the elderly and their caregivers.
Prolonging community living
By putting products and services at the fingertips of Singapore’s elderly and their caregivers, the AIC is enhancing quality of care and helping people live comfortably in communities they know. The Sitecore-powered Vertis Health Marketplace has administered higher transaction volumes and millions of dollars in senior subsidies. The first version of the project went live in just six weeks, providing users with a fast and easy-to-use way to buy products, access services, and process grants. The portal gives each user a dedicated and secure account wallet to purchase products directly from suppliers with real-time subsidy and co-payment calculations for a better user experience and smoother process. The Sitecore solution has transformed marketplace management, making back-end self-service catalog and order management effortless, and has cut the time required to make catalog updates from weeks to minutes.
The Sitecore-based Vertis Health Marketplace provides best-in-class e-commerce and marketplace technology that provides Singapore’s Agency for Integrated Care with continuous innovation and flexibility in business and operational models so AIC can focus on helping citizens age in place for better overall health and quality of life.
