AI meets human connection at Sitecore Symposium 2025

AI took the spotlight in the mainstage announcements — not to replace creativity, but to amplify it through smarter experiences.

5 minute read

The opening keynote at Sitecore Symposium 2025 felt more like theater than tech—by design. As the house lights dimmed, a single spotlight isolated CEO Eric Stine on stage to the instrumental strains of “Seasons of Love” from RENT. This opening set the tone for what followed: a keynote about meaning, connection, and the future of digital experiences.

Stine began with a question borrowed from Jonathan Larson’s iconic musical: “How do you measure a year in a life?” That question became a metaphor for the marketer’s challenge today—measuring impact not in transactions, but in moments of trust and connection.

Next, he confronted the reality marketers face head-on: disconnected systems, endless briefs, and the growing complexity of personalization. Technology promised simplicity but delivered fragmentation. And now, AI has amplified the cracks. With generative models summarizing content before users ever visit a site, brands risk losing control of their experiences. “Our content isn’t driving traffic anymore,” Stine said. “Our content is the traffic.”

The reveal: SitecoreAI

SitecoreAI unifies Content Hub, XM Cloud, CDP & Personalize, Search, and agentic AI capabilities into a single, AI-enabled SaaS platform - one contract, one workflow, and one data model - making activation and scaling simpler for customers.

Then came the spotlight moment—literally and figuratively. As the stage brightened and screens shifted from moody black to vibrant color, Stine announced SitecoreAI, the next-generation digital experience platform built for the AI era.

With SitecoreAI, marketers can pivot campaigns in hours, not weeks. Personalize at scale across websites, social feeds, and AI-driven summaries. Access content, data, and insights in a single interface—no switching apps, no copy-pasting.

For existing XM Cloud customers, the transition to SitecoreAI is automatic - there is no migration or new contract required. Customers will receive baseline entitlements for CDP, Personalize, Search, and DAM, with phased rollout of features."

Stine concluded with the commitment that SitecoreAI shortens the distance between a brand story and a business outcome. Already integrated. Already orchestrated. Already ready.

As Huey Lewis’s “The Power of Love” played and he walked offstage, the message was clear: Sitecore isn’t just building software—it’s building the foundation for marketing in an AI-driven world.

Following Stine’s energizing keynote, Sitecore CPO Roger Connolly was ready to shift gears—from vision to reality.

“Eric painted the why,” Connolly began. “I get to show you the how.”

What followed was less a presentation and more a revelation: SitecoreAI isn’t a concept waiting in the wings—it’s live, embedded, and reshaping how marketing works today. In the next 20 minutes, Connolly showed us what that looks like: how marketers build, how customers feel, and how every experience stays safe, smart, and on brand—automatically.

The challenge ahead

Connolly didn’t sugarcoat the uncertainty marketers face. “What happens to my website when AI starts writing the answers?” he asked, echoing the question on everyone’s mind. For two decades, the web was predictable—optimize for clicks, track traffic, tune keywords. But the new web doesn’t crawl; it comprehends. Large language models don’t browse—they read, summarize, and decide what’s worth showing.

Visibility, Connolly explained, is no longer bought—it’s earned through structured, open, trustworthy content. FAQs, product explainers, knowledge hubs: these are the new currency of credibility. And when customers finally reach you, the experience must go beyond answers. It has to feel intuitive, personalized, and unmistakably human.

That’s where SitecoreAI comes in—keeping brands visible, relevant, and human, even as the rules of discovery are rewritten.

The big reveal: Agentic Studio

Then came the introduction of Agentic Studio which is the workspace inside SitecoreAI where marketers can use, customize, and build AI agents to automate and orchestrate marketing workflows, all within a marketer-directed, brand-safe environment.. Connolly described it as a living platform—content, customer data, and intelligence flowing together in real time. At launch, marketers will have access to a library of pre-built agents for everything from content creation to optimisation, with the ability to customize and extend as needed.

The demo: From idea to impact

The demo was where theory met practice. Connolly showed how SitecoreAI turns signals into strategy, surfacing real-time insights and trends, then recommending actions and agents to act on them. We watched as a regional campaign came to life in seconds—briefs generated, content created, assets aligned to brand guidelines—all without leaving the platform. Collaboration between marketer and machine felt instant and intuitive.

Stories from the frontlines

The session didn’t stop at demos. Leaders from AFL, Infor, Berkeley Homes, and Regal Rexnord shared how SitecoreAI is transforming their marketing—from AI-powered ABM to personalized homebuyer journeys and unified digital experiences. Each story underscored the same truth: AI isn’t replacing marketers; it’s amplifying them.

Connolly closed with a live challenge: creating a personalized campaign for every attendee in the room. Within minutes, SitecoreAI analyzed registrant data, enriched it, and generated tailored breakout session recommendations—delivered straight to our phones.

A bold new era for SitecoreAI

Sitecore Symposium 2025 kicked off with a clear message: Sitecore is betting big on AI—and it’s not just talk. After Stine laid out the vision for SitecoreAI and Connolly wowed the audience with a live demo of Agentic Studio, the applause said it all: this was a turning point.

But then came the question everyone was thinking: “How do we get this? And how do we get started?” That’s where Sitecore COO Dave Tilbury stepped in.

Having joined Sitecore just five months ago, Tilbury shared candid insights from conversations with customers worldwide. One story stood out: a retail CMO in London lamented a painful truth—three months just to buy software. The contracting process was a slog, and it wasn’t an isolated complaint. Across industries, the feedback was consistent: “We love what Sitecore does. But getting there? Not easy.”

Buying was complicated. Pricing was confusing. Figuring out which products fit together felt like solving a puzzle. That reality shaped today’s announcements.

Simplicity and confidence

Sitecore’s message was clear: power only matters if customers can access it easily. The company has re-engineered its commercial model to make licensing simpler, adoption faster, and growth frictionless. This means every major capability now has one metric driving the price. No more juggling page views, API calls, or bandwidth caps. One number. One clear buying experience.

When customers buy one module, they get production-scale access to the entire SitecoreAI suite—CMS, DAM, Conversion Optimization, and more. Real environments, real usage. No trials, no delays. Sitecore is offering the freedom and flexibility to scale when you’re ready and pay only for what you use.

This isn’t just a tweak—it’s a leap of faith. Sitecore is betting that hands-on experience will prove value faster than any sales cycle.

Power without limits

In an era where competitors nickel-and-dime customers with AI tokens and usage caps, Sitecore is taking a stand: AI is not an add-on. Every AI agent, every copilot, every workflow Connolly demoed included. No upsells. No credits. No games. As Tilbury put it: “We wouldn’t dare charge you for something like that separately.”

Introducing SitecoreAI Pathway

The keynote also introduced SitecoreAI Pathway, an AI-powered migration tool that simplifies and accelerates the move from XP or XM to SitecoreAI, automating key steps like data mapping and workflow setup to reduce complexity and risk. Historically, migrations took 15 months—six for front-end design, nine for back-end content. Thanks to AI-driven automation, that timeline is now cut by 70%. Front-end design work? Down from six months to two, thanks to partner innovations. Back-end content migration? SitecoreAI Pathway uses generative AI to map, transform, and migrate thousands of pages with precision.

And it’s not just for Sitecore customers. The tool works across Adobe, Optimizely, Contentful, and more. It’s live today for Sitecore migrations and goes GA for competitors by month-end—all included in the Sitecore 360 subscription.

Next is Now

Tilbury’s keynote wrapped with four words that defined the day: Simplicity. Confidence. Power. Speed. These words represent Sitecore’s commitment to providing the easiest buying experience ever, full access to SitecoreAI’s value from day one, every AI innovation included at no extra cost, and migration timelines compressed like never before.

Sitecore isn’t just launching a product—it’s rewriting the rules of the digital experience market. And it’s all available now.

It was a fitting finale to the first day of keynotes, proving next isn’t coming later. Next is now.

The differentiator’s dilemma

On day two, Tilbury opened with candor: “For years, our industry has been solving the wrong problem.” SaaS was meant to free marketers to move faster and innovate boldly, but for many, it introduced a new challenge: the differentiator’s dilemma—when the processes that make a business competitive become obstacles to modernization.

Tilbury posed the question on everyone’s mind: “If I can personalize every customer experience, why can’t I personalize the platform that powers them?” His answer: Sitecore Studio.

Introducing Sitecore Studio

Sitecore Studio transforms SitecoreAI into an open, composed ecosystem where businesses can customize, extend, and innovate on their terms. Built on Microsoft Azure, Studio provides governed spaces for innovation so every extension, agent, and connector runs safely within guardrails.

Studio includes four key components:

  • Agentic Studio – A marketer’s command center for building and deploying intelligent agents.
  • App Studio – A developer workspace for creating custom apps, connectors, and extensions using open APIs and SDKs.
  • Marketplace – An enterprise app store for sharing, discovering, and monetizing solutions.
  • Sitecore Connect – A growing library of prebuilt connectors to integrate SitecoreAI with platforms like Salesforce, OpenAI, and Gemini.

Together, these components enable what Tilbury calls Custom SaaS: all the benefits of cloud agility and reliability, plus the freedom to make it your own.

What it means for customers

For XM and XP customers, Studio means modernization without compromise—bringing unique workflows and integrations into SaaS. For current SaaS users, it unlocks deeper customization and automation. For partners, it creates new opportunities to build, scale, and monetize solutions.

The launch of Sitecore Studio highlights Sitecore’s strong commitment to partner-driven innovation and its global network of more than 20,000 practitioners, 250 MVPs, and 550 agency partners. Many of these partners took part in the inaugural Partner Challenge, creating new solutions on Sitecore Studio for industries spanning retail, healthcare, and financial services. Their innovations addressed use cases such as improved accessibility, localization, and converting Figma designs into fully functional websites and pages. Horizontal Digital emerged as the winner with its Sense Agent, developed in collaboration with Pet Supplies Plus. Sense Agent analyses customer reviews from multiple sources, mapping sentiment and brand voice against company guidelines to help brands monitor perception and maintain consistency.

Three runners-up showcased the versatility of Sitecore Studio:

  • Zont Digital’s GEO Answer Agent: Delivers actionable insights and identifies emerging questions, automatically generating new Sitecore pages to support proactive content strategies.
  • Altudo’s Personalization Co-Pilot: Suggests and configures personalization rules based on page context and user behaviour.
  • One North’s FigCore Agent: Automates the conversion of Figma designs into Sitecore components, accelerating delivery and streamlining workflows for creative and technical teams.

Ready to rewrite the rules?

Across two days, Sitecore delivered a clear message: Next isn’t coming later. Next is now. From SitecoreAI’s unified platform to Sitecore Studio’s customization capabilities, Sitecore is rewriting the rules of digital experience—and making AI core to every marketer’s workflow.
