Joyce Meyer Ministries (JMM), a leading provider of religious and motivational resources, recognized the need to modernize its ecommerce platform to better serve its growing and diverse customer base. They struggled with their legacy ecommerce system, which created limitations around customization, slow performance, outdated search functionality, and a lack of scalability. To address these challenges, JMM migrated to OrderCloud, a headless commerce solution they knew would provide greater flexibility to meet their diverse business needs, deliver improved performance, enhance search capabilities, and enable future growth.

Outdated ecommerce platform blocking growth

JMM, a leading faith-based organization, offers an extensive range of products and services, including donations, books, teachings, and exclusive bundles for millions of supporters.

JMM faced significant challenges with their traditional ecommerce platform. The rigid system hindered UI customization and innovation, limiting the ability to meet customer expectations. Outdated search functionality made it hard for users to find relevant products, negatively impacting sales. Additionally, slow loading times caused by heavy content, large catalogs, and complex inventory management led to poor user experiences, higher bounce rates, and lower conversions. To support future growth, JMM required a scalable, flexible platform that could adapt to evolving business needs.

Solution

Gaining flexibility and scalability with headless commerce

JMM adopted OrderCloud, an API-first, headless commerce platform, which provided the flexibility, scalability, and performance improvements needed to modernize their ecommerce operations. This flexible platform enabled the team to quickly and easily customize the user interface, and deliver tailored shopping experiences.

Additionaly, the team was able to build their own internal administrative interface for JMM marketers and business users to easily manage products, coupons, promotions, offers and more, making the whole team’s job easier.

OrderCloud helped to optimize page load speeds through better content delivery, image optimization, and caching strategies, improving the user experience, reducing bounce rates and boosting overall site engagement.

Also, a new advanced search feature that combined content and product data was implemented, allowing customers to easily find products through personalized search results and relevant product recommendations.

Achieving their goals within the first week

The shift to OrderCloud delivered significant improvements for JMM.

Website performance soared with a 99% Lighthouse score indicating faster load times and a smoother user experience.

The headless architecture allowed for a complete overhaul of the UI/UX, creating a modern, user-friendly design that better aligned with the company’s business needs and improved the customer experience, while the new search functionality provided more relevant, personalized product recommendations, improving overall conversion rates.

Transitioning to a composable architecture has also streamlined feature development, simplified content and catalog management, and cut content release times from nearly an hour to just 7 minutes.

Managing global ecommerce products and pricing with multiple currency types, inventory counts, catalogs and more has also been streamlined.

The platform’s flexibility and scalability allows JMM to seamlessly intregrate third-party services and new tools with low-code changes, adapting to new business needs. Sitecore has opened the door for future enhancements, including personalization, automation, positioning JMM for continued growth and success.
