Fragmented experiences across 40+ properties
PENN Entertainment combines casinos, digital media, and online gaming into one omnichannel brand, but its digital setup struggled to keep up. Over time, disconnected implementations and one-off components piled up across each site.
Content authors hit steep learning curves and inconsistent workflows. Development teams carried duplicated effort and heavy maintenance. The architecture itself capped growth, making it hard to add properties, introduce personalization, or put data to work.
What started as a tactical migration for a few sites surfaced a bigger need: a new approach to how PENN builds and delivers digital experiences.
Refactoring for scale and speed
PENN partnered with Americaneagle.com to build a headless SitecoreAI architecture made for consistency and performance across every property.
The core shift was moving from fragmented builds to a centralized, reusable component model. A shared component library, structured content models, and standardized theming let teams create and manage experiences efficiently while keeping each brand distinct. Custom approval workflows kept content governed, and integrations with digital asset management and Sitecore Search improved how content was found and reused.
To speed the move, the team used Americaneagle.com's SitecoreAI Flightpath Accelerator to migrate templates, data sources, and content out of legacy systems. PENN also added a single sign-on solution for loyalty programs, personalized promotions, and connected account management across platforms. Custom marketplace apps gave marketers a faster way to schedule promotions and run campaigns.
Connected experiences that perform
With one platform underneath it, PENN now delivers consistent experiences across every channel.
Teams work faster, with simpler authoring, reusable components, and less reliance on developers. Training times have dropped and content reaches all properties sooner. Customers move through a smoother journey too, from personalized promotions to connected loyalty programs and shared account access, with stronger search and dynamic content across digital and physical touchpoints.
The business results are concrete. Search rankings rose fourfold, accessibility scores reached 100, and deployments now happen with zero downtime. Next, PENN plans to roll out more properties and deepen personalization on the same composable foundation.
